RiverBeds & SeaBeds Luxury lodges - what's the difference?

At Woodlands, we’re best known for our gloriously romantic escapes for two, but we frequently hear that the struggle is real when faced with the conundrum of which type of lodge to choose! Will it be RiverBeds Luxury Wee Lodges or SeaBeds Luxury Lookouts?

With this common quandary in mind, we thought we’d help you out by giving you an overview of both styles of luxury lodge.

Seductive similarities

Before we begin with the differences, we should take a look at the stunning similarities. The first thing to mention is that ALL of our lodges were built with luxury and lovers in mind. We want your stay to memorable (for the right reasons!). All lodges are situated overlooking the water amidst a backdrop of breath-taking scenery, they also boast private hot tubs, WiFi, mood lighting and more luxury features than you could shake a stick at. Think sleek interiors, crisp white linen, fluffy towels and all the little luxury touches that elevate a getaway from blah to YEEHA!

Both RiverBeds and SeaBeds are available for one-night stays and breakfast is included. What’s more, your four-legged friends are very welcome to join you.

RiverBeds Luxury Wee Lodges

These magical micro-cabins have been cannily crafted to contain everything you could wish for in a romantic Highland getaway. For the lovers out there, submerge yourself in the bubbling sunken hot tub, before setting the mood lighting and hitting those luxurious Egyptian cotton sheets! Oh, and tech geeks rejoice because RiverBeds boasts some seriously cool electrics (from Nespresso Coffee machines with the best of beans to high end HiFi and high speed Wifi)! These tantalising tardises even enjoy en-suite wet rooms, stocked with quality lotions, potions and super soft towels and robes.

RiverBeds Upper Lodges (1 – 4)

✨Best for solace seekers, stargazers & sun worshippers

Upper RiverBeds are (as you may have guessed) situated further upstream and enjoy a secluded situation far from the reception and Clubhouse. Lodges 1 – 4 are the newest additions to the Woodlands Estate and as such are invested with lots of incremental improvements and natty benefits that we’ve learned about over the years. Some you’ll really notice, such as the in-glass privacy blinds within the front door and others, like the humidity control, just do their clever work in the background.

During the design process we decided to treat ‘upper’ guests to lots more interior and exterior space, so if you’re planning on having an extended getaway, we recommend staying in ‘upper’ lodges so you can stretch out and make yourself at home. These beauties enjoy bigger beds, larger televisions, air conditioning and even contain dining tables.

Because ‘upper’ haven’t had the same amount of time to settle into their environment as their ‘lower’ counterparts, these lodges don’t possess the same level of mature tree coverage (yet!); however, sunbathers, sundowners and stargazers don’t mind this one bit!

RiverBeds Lower Lodges (5 – 12)

✨Best for fairytale fanatics, riverside romancers & daydreamers

Lower RiverBeds are situated downstream and were the first lodges to be built on the Woodlands Estate. They’ve had more time to settle into their woodland environment and as such, are now almost completely hidden beneath a canopy of trees. These lodges overhang the rumbling river and wouldn’t look out of place on the pages of a fairytale!

Ridiculously romantic and hidden from the world, ‘lower’ RiverBeds are ideal for those in search of an enchanting escape. Located near the Clubhouse, honesty bar and reception, ‘lower’ lodges are perfect for those looking for a hideaway, but with convenience just steps away.

SeaBeds Luxury Lookouts

✨Best for lovers, luxe travellers, stargazers and sunset seekers

Think five-star luxury and take that thought to another level! SeaBeds Luxury Lookouts offer state-of-the-art, open-plan living with sea to sky views over Loch Linnhe and include a plethora of sensational designer features.

These lodges are perfect for sun-worshippers as the spacious terrace is kissed by the sun from dawn until dusk; after which stargazers are in for a treat! Even on the wildest of west Highland weather days, guests can pull out the sofa bed, entwine and watch the storm roll in from the cosiness of their luxury love nest.

SeaBeds can accommodate up to four adults, courtesy of that super-squidgy sofa bed; however, these lodges really are one for the lovers and the wildly romantic!
