Club History
Shortly after the Golf Course was built by Ronnie McLauchlan in 2002 a number of golfers came together to form the Dragon’s Tooth Golf Club (DTGC). The name comes from the local name for the pointed mountain between the two Munros, which can been seen from the 4th and 5th fairways.
The aim of the Club is to enable its members to gain handicaps, enjoy club amenities and organise competitions.
In 2009 the Course was bought by the Young family, who asked the Club to support them in improving and growing the Course potential. The Leven Ladies Golf Club, which also used the Course, merged with the DTGC. The policy of the Club is that of equality and is pleased to have both ladies and men working on the Committee. A new constitution was drawn (accepted by members 30/4/10),
The first DTGC Open was held on the 25th September 2010, and is now held annually on the last weekend of July. This had to cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the Covid pandemic. The Club continues to hold monthly medals and mid-week stableford competitions.
In 2013 the Course was extended from a 9-hole course to an 18 tee, 9-hole course. The Club organized the measurement and acceptance by the Scottish Golf Union (now Scottish Golf Limited), along with attaining official Standard Scratch Certificates from the SGU and SLGA (now combined as Scottish Golf Limited). In 2020 the Course reverted to a 9-hole course as originally designed
Junior Golf coaching for primary school children is an important part of the Club development, and we are always open to new members who wish to play golf. The Club continues to be a member of Scottish Golf Limited and Scottish Golf Limited – North.
In 2021 the Dragon’s Tooth Golf Course was rebranded as Woodlands Glencoe; This Club and the 4th hole retain “Dragon’s Tooth” within their respective names.
