What to Bring

Fancy testing your Viking skills?

Axe throwing is far less about brute strength than you might think. It’s all about rhythm, technique and a little bit of focus. The basics are quick to pick up and there’s nothing quite like the solid, satisfying thud of an axe sticking cleanly into the target, especially when you start landing closer and closer to the bullseye!

Your session takes place in the dramatic surroundings of the Woodlands Estate in Glencoe, where the rugged landscape adds a real sense of adventure to the experience. Surrounded by towering mountains, it’s the kind of setting that makes every inch the Viking!

Most sessions are shared with family or friends and things naturally become a little competitive as everyone finds their rhythm. We encourage that friendly rivalry, but just as importantly, we keep things relaxed, fun and full of laughter so everyone can enjoy the experience, regardless of skill level.

Your instructor will guide you through safe handling and proper technique, helping you build confidence with each throw. As your accuracy improves, so does the challenge, leading up to some light-hearted competition to round off the session.

Sessions go ahead in all weather, so come prepared for the elements and dress accordingly.

My wife, my 16 year old son and myself booked and took part in the archery activity that’s on offer. We all absolutely loved it having never doing it before. The instructor was incredibly informative and made it great fun.

There seems to be a lot written about segways, but seing as we are a pretty dab hand at riding segways, we decided to go for something a little different, and we chose archery. I arrived with my two sons, one who is 19 and the other who is 20.... In all a really good competitive hour of archery which everyone enjoyed, and rain, hail or snow I would certainly recommend doing this.

My husband, daughter, partner and myself decided to have a couple of days away in Glencoe. We noticed the centre was open over winter so decided to give archery a go. Vince looked after us very well and we were all hitting the target by the end if the session. Would highly recommend the centre and the staff were lovely. Many thanks! The Barmanroys
