Top 10 Ridiculously Romantic Walks in Glencoe

Discover 10 of our most swoon-worthy saunters (or proposal spots!) near Woodlands Glencoe

Ready to embrace some romantic walks in Glencoe?

If romance were a place, it would probably look a lot like Woodlands Glencoe. Tucked away in one of the Highland’s most scenic spots, our luxury lodges were made for lovebirds. In fact, the Woodlands Estate has become somewhat of a hotspot (pun absolutely intended) for couples looking to relax, reconnect and revel in the romance.

The majority of our guests rarely leave their luxury hot tub lodges! RiverBeds Luxury Wee Lodges, SeaBeds Luxury Lookouts or Forest Corner Luxury Hideaways all have private sunken hot tubs and more romantic features than you could shake a stick at. So honestly, we don’t blame them one bit!

However, if you fancy stretching your legs for a romantic ramble, or maybe even a proposal (no pressure!), the Woodlands team have rounded up ten of their favourite romantic walks in and around Glencoe for you to explore together.  All of the walks below are easy going and fairly short, so perfect if you want to wear something nice just in case you’re thinking of adding a little extra photo-worthy magic to your meander!

Woodlands Estate Viewpoint

25-minute walk from your lodge

Leave your lodge behind and follow the river upstream through the Woodlands Estate until you find a forestry track. Keep climbing until you branch left and before long voilà!  You’ll stumble upon the view of all views. Lochs & mountains laid out before you. It’s peaceful, private and just far enough away from civilisation to sneak in a quick proposal!

💘 9/10. Privacy & a short stroll back to your lodge for a celebratory Prosecco.

Glencoe Lochan

10-minute drive

Like a romantic film set, only real! This level, loch-side loop takes about half an hour and circles through dreamy pine forests and around a gloriously reflective lochan. Wander onto the jetties that branch out into the loch or for private views and even more magic, head into the surrounding forest and join one of the little trails overlooking the lochan.

🌲 9.5/10. You might cry just from the beauty before you even propose.

Three Sisters Base Walk

15-minute drive

If you manage to park at the iconic Three Sisters Carpark (good luck!), we recommend losing the carpark crowds & descending into the glen where the giants loom above. A narrow trail hugs the base of the mountains and quickly leaves the tourist crowd behind. After about half an hour, a tiny cottage awaits, which is your cue to head back.

🏔️ 8/10. Epic backdrop and easy to lose the crowds if you can get parked.

Ralston Cairn

20-minute drive

Missed the Three Sisters carpark? No worries! Head a little further south along the A82 and look out for a lay-by on your left after you pass a wee stone bridge on the hill to your left.  A short 20 minute walk along an incredibly romantic and ancient track leads to Ralston Cairn, which offers some of the most breathtaking views in Glencoe. It’s a quieter spot, perfect for heart-to-hearts and heartfelt questions!

💍 10/10. Panoramic perfection and a sense of Highland seclusion.

Signal Rock

10-minute drive

Legend says this is where the MacDonalds of Glencoe gathered in ancient times, so this gentle stroll is practically built for dramatic gestures!  A short, mossy forest walk leads you to a rocky outcrop with sweeping views. It’s an easy trail with a side of myth and magic.

🪨  7.5/10. Historical romance with bonus story potential.

Castle Stalker & Jubilee Bridge

15-minute drive

This one’s for the fairytale fanatics. Head along the A828 to Oban and look out for a sign pointing to Jubilee Bridge. Turn off down the lane for half a mile or so until you see a small carpark. From here you can embrace a beautiful there-and-back one hour walk where you pass over marshes, through woodland and onto the shoreline where you will be treated to some truly postcard-perfect views of Castle Stalker. Don’t forget to check tide times as Jubilee Bridge can get submerged at high tide!

🏰 9/10. Feels like you’re about to ride off on horseback together.

Inchree Falls

10-minute drive

A gentle walk through forestry tracks takes you to these spectacular falls near Onich. Wooden platforms and benches make this a relaxed, romantic outing and you’ll often have it all to yourselves. There are a few trails here, so go exploring!

💦 8.5/10. Babbling brooks and waterfall mist. The dream!

Glen Nevis Riverside Ramble

25-minute drive

Start at the Ben Nevis carpark (don’t panic, no climbing required!) and wander across the footbridge. Follow the river upstream under ancient trees with views of the big Ben looming above. It’s peaceful, leafy and very [proposal] picnic-friendly.

🌿 8/10. Highland charm, babbling river and Brave Heart vibes.

Steall Falls Walk

35-minute drive

A cinematic twenty minute walk through a spectacular gorge that opens into a glen of wonder with a view of the incredible Steall Falls! Scotland’s second-highest waterfall and star of Braveheart and Harry Potter, you can even cross a wire bridge to get closer if you’re brave.

🌈 9.5/10. This place practically yells “romantic epic.”
