Visiting Golf Membership at Woodlands Glencoe
There’s something about arriving at Woodlands Glencoe that makes people want to come back. Maybe it’s the mountains towering behind the course, the peaceful nine holes tucked into the landscape or the simple joy of playing golf somewhere that feels totally unspoiled! Whatever the reason, we’ve noticed a distinct pattern! People visit once, then twice, then suddenly they’re planning their trips to Glencoe around when they can squeeze in another round!
So we thought, why not make it official? If you live 35+ miles from Woodlands Golf Course, you can join us as a Visiting Member and make Woodlands your Scottish home-away-from-home club. It’s a recurring annual membership designed for golfers who love returning to Glencoe and want to feel part of the place when they do.
Even better, visiting members can play as often as they like when they’re here and we include complimentary club hire, which means you can travel light and still enjoy a round beneath some of the most dramatic scenery in Scotland.
Visiting members give back 🌿
We LOVE the Woodlands Estate and we’re incredibly proud of the natural environment we’ve inherited here.
With that pride comes responsibility. We believe it’s our duty to protect this landscape for future generations and we’ve made it our mission to become a net-zero business. Along the way, we aim to encourage our team, the local community and our golfers and guests to develop an ever-growing awareness of (and appreciation for) the environment around them.
And our visiting members play a small, but meaningful part in that story.
Visitor membership helps support nature restoration and wildlife projects across the Woodlands Estate and every visiting member will even have a native Scottish tree planted in their honour, which is then recorded on our official Woodlands tree map (see below!).
So somewhere on the estate, there’ll be a tree quietly getting on with growing, with your name on it. Not a bad golfing legacy!

The legend behind the Dragon 🐉
The inspiration for the Dragon’s Circle comes from Beinn a’ Bheithir, the dramatic mountain that rises proudly behind the Woodlands Estate. According to local legend, the mountain was once home to the Bheithir, a fearsome dragon who lived in Corrie Liath, a great bowl-shaped hollow in the mountainside. The dragon guarded the slopes fiercely, tearing apart any travellers who ventured too close.
Eventually the beast was defeated by a man known as Charles the Skipper; however, the Bheithir had recently given birth to a baby dragon, who later grew up and laid eggs of her own. Unfortunately for the dragons, a local farmer discovered the eggs and burned them! When the mother dragon saw what had happened, she flew down to the shore in grief, stretched herself across a flat rock, and lashed it with her tail until she died. That rock is still known today as Dragon’s Rock.
Thankfully, the only dragons you’re likely to encounter at Woodlands these days are on our membership certificates!
