A Highland adventure for you and your dog
Did you know that in the UK, over 13.5 million homes have at least one dog? As a team of dog lovers, we totally get why we’ve become a nation of pooch obsessives and that’s why we offer dog friendly luxury lodges in Glencoe and welcome dogs with open arms. With those wagging tails, puppy-dog eyes and loyal little hearts, how COULD you possibly consider leaving them behind?!
At Woodlands, it’s not just our human guests we like to roll out the red carpet for. Our four-legged guests are treated like royalty too. Whether your pooch is a pampered pug or a mountain-loving mutt, our lodges are perfectly situated and equipped for unforgettable dog-friendly adventures. Here are our top reasons to bring your furry best friend along for the ride:
Pooch perfect lodges
From the moment your dog pads onto the Woodlands Estate, they’ll feel the love. You’ll find a treat jar waiting at reception (feel free to help yourself. Dogs only, please!) and in your lodge, a doggy welcome gift including a fluffy towel, treats, poo bags and a water bowl awaits.
Need to wash down muddy paws after a loch-side stomp? We’ve got you covered. Fancy a sweet treat in the sun? Grab a dog-friendly ice cream up at Kitchen Food Truck. It’s pretty much canine paradise.
We welcome up to three dogs per booking, and our pet fee is just £50 per stay – not per night and not per dog. Because let’s face it, the extra cleaning is the same whether you’ve got one dog or a little pack of three.
Dog-friendly dining
If your dog’s idea of luxury is snoozing under a café table while you sip a flat white or tuck into a hearty pub lunch, they’re in luck.
Most eateries around Glencoe are super dog-friendly, welcoming well-behaved pooches into their cosy cafes and rustic restaurants. Right here on the Woodlands Estate, your dog is more than welcome at Kitchen Food Truck. Sit out on the terrace on sunny days or snuggle into the Clubhouse by the fire if it’s a little brisk outside.

Walks with a wag
One word: WALKIES! Glencoe is packed with dog-friendly walking routes; from gentle woodland trails to jaw-dropping mountain hikes. Head over to the Walk Highlands website for more information on the best walks in the area. Or if you’re hoping to bring a little romance to your walk, do check out our romantic rambles guide too. Just one word of caution. The terrain here can be a bit, shall we say, wild. One minute you’re ambling along a flat path, the next minute there’s a 500ft drop or a surprise herd of deer or mountain goats. So, if your dog’s off-lead, keep your eyes peeled and your voice loud.
Dog-friendly adventures
The Glencoe area doesn’t just allow dogs, it truly welcomes them. Here’s a taste of some of the unlikely adventures your pup can join you on. How about a trip aboard the Jacobite Steam Train (standard class only), Nevis Range Gondola can whisk you up Aonach Mhor, you can hop on Cruise Loch Linnhe for wildlife spotting or head to the West Highland Museum or Glencoe Folk Museum!
Need a paw-se?
If you want to head somewhere that’s not quite dog-appropriate (spa day, anyone?) or have a special dinner planned, no problem! Local dog lovers Amy Wilson at Muddy Paws (07548 183446) and Sonja at Ballachulish Bed & Biscuits offer trusted dog-sitting services, either at your lodge or at their own comfy setups.
Emergency? Help is nearby
Hopefully, your trip will be smooth sailing. But if your dog does something like eat something they shouldn’t (yes, we’re looking at you, Labradors), both Crown Vets and Nevis Vets are nearby and ready to help.
