Hop on the Ember Bus to Woodlands Glencoe 🌿
Who says getting to Woodlands Glencoe has to involve a car? With Ember, the journey is all part of the adventure and a wonderfully green one at that! Even better, several routes now glide right past Woodlands. That means you can leave the car behind, sit back, relax and arrive feeling smug in the best possible way.
Let’s be honest, holidays just feel better when they don’t cost the earth (literally). Choosing public transport can cut your travel emissions dramatically and electric buses take things to a whole new level. Enter Ember: the UK’s first all-electric intercity bus network. Zero exhaust emissions, super quiet, comfy seats, free Wifi and big windows for all that Highland drama! And here’s the cherry on top, it’s surprisingly affordable too. You can expect a return ticket from Edinburgh or Glasgow to be around £37. Not bad for a front-row seat to some of the most beautiful scenery in the country.
Travel green, feel good!
Scotland is charging ahead (pun fully intended) when it comes to greener travel and with Ember, all roads (well nearly all routes) lead to Woodlands! Getting here couldn’t be easier. Experience historic city streets & Highland peaks all in one trip! Buses leave Glasgow, Glasgow Airport, Edinburgh, Edinburgh Airport plus Oban & Inverness, several times a day! And the best bit? They all pass right by Woodlands Glencoe! Well, almost right to the door. Simply, hop off at North Ballachulish and it’s just a 7-minute wander to reach our luxury lodges. Close enough to feel effortless, far enough to stretch your legs after the journey!
As you roll north from Glasgow & Edinburgh things get seriously dramatic. Think towering mountains, misty glens and waterfalls doing their thing. From Inverness, you’ll follow the legendary Loch Ness (Nessie cameo not guaranteed, but we live in hope!). Keep an eye out for Urquhart Castle and mighty Ben Nevis looming large as you pass. From Oban, it’s coastal views galore, plus a picture-perfect moment courtesy of Castle Stalker.
Why we love this (a lot)!
At Woodlands, going green isn’t a trend, it’s just how we live. We’re a family-run business and this land is part of our story. We grew up here, running through the woods and climbing trees and now we get to share that same magic with our children (and you!). Looking after this place isn’t just important to us, it’s personal! That’s why we’re working towards becoming a net zero tourism business by 2030.
Small changes, big difference
We’ve been busy behind the scenes making things greener, bit by bit. Electric buggies zip around the estate, hot tubs are heated by air source systems (still toasty, just smarter), lodges contain LED lighting, motion sensors and energy-efficient everything. Water-saving systems, recycling, composting, cutting down on waste, saying goodbye to single-use plastics, you name it! We’re also planting more trees and putting real investment into our community (including a yearly fund for local causes).
Keeping it green when you’re here
Once you’ve arrived (feeling very pleased with your eco-travel choices), why not keep it going? Explore the Woodland Estate on foot or get active on one of our eco-activities such as golf, archery, axe throwing or e-biking along the beautiful Caledonia Way.
Forward over your Ember confirmation to marketing@woodlands.scot and we’ll gift you complimentary e-bike hire during your stay with us!
